100 Words a Day #156

18 Sep

Benbo didn’t care.  He didn’t feel a thing.  He was emotionless.  He did what he wanted.  He liked to laugh and did things that made him laugh.  He was unaware of the consequences that happened as a result.  People, and the things he did to them, made him laugh.

‘Ok, if I am holding the rock, what am I supposed to do with it?’ asked Carl.

‘You need to hit him in the ankle.’ Said Joan.

‘The ankle?  Are you shitting me?’

‘No, it is his Achilles heel.’

‘Just how do you presume that I hit him in the ankle?’

When you work at a hospital you see many things.  I’ve seen a woman leave with her new born baby.  I’ve seen a woman leave alone because her baby died during labor.  I’ve seen a person on a ventilator, heart monitor, and numerous IVs.  I’ve taken people to get MRI’s who had to be sedated to do it.  I’ve seen people with missing appendages because of the diabetes.  I’ve dealt with people who have had cancer, go through dialysis and had their colons examined. They all deserve the best care they can get and shouldn’t have to worry about cost.

The bride and groom have written their own vows…

Bride- I knew from the moment we met that you were the one.  The way you shyly asked me out on date.  You took me to a Steak and Shake and you shared your fries with me.  We had many other dates where you held my hand as we looked at the sunset.  We laughed, we cried and made my heart swell with love.  I can’t imagine spending another day of my life without you in it.  I am yours forever and ever.

Groom- You never ran away when I farted.

I know that the expression ‘step on a crack, break your mother’s back’ was made because it rhymes but it sounds a little crazy doesn’t it?  I mean stepping on a crack will break my mother’s back?  That is probably the last thing that will break my mother’s back.  A swing of the baseball bat to the back will break it.  Not stepping on a crack.  And who, in the right mind, is thinking I better not step on this crack.  Don’t wanna hurt mom.  Or maybe they are thinking the opposite and are stepping on all the cracks?!  Lunatics.

It seems the pharmacy in town, Tom’s Drugs and Goods, had exploded as well.  Tom wasn’t the owner anymore.  Sandy had taken over.  Sandy was Tom’s daughter.  She went out of state for college to become a pharmacist.  It was never her intention to come back.  She didn’t really like Crawford County.  But Tom got sick and she came home to help.  That was 10 years ago.  Tom died 8 years ago.  Sandy just never left.  She aspired for more but just felt stuck.  Bob was thinking to himself ‘She did it.  She finally set herself free to get out.’

‘Check out the melons on that one!’

‘Woo wee! Those are nice.’

‘Oh man, those cans over there are tight.’

‘God damn! You are right.’

‘Are tomatoes in season?  Cause those are looking ripe!’

‘Can’t wait to get a hold of those.’

‘Oh my lord those jugs…  They are huge!’

‘Some of the biggest I have ever seen.’

‘Those buns look tasty.’

‘So good.  Can’t wait to put my face in em.’

‘That sausage looks awesome!’

‘Wait what? What we are we doing here again?’

Cue to voice over-

Come on down to Klinkman’s Groceries and enjoy all of these things.

There will always be a time where you 2nd guess yourself.  You’ll think you should have done the other thing instead.  But hindsight is always 20/20 so why bother with it?  LEARN from that mistake so as to not make it again, but at the same time remember mistakes can lead to new opportunities.

Recently I have been dealing with these thoughts.  Dealing with self doubt.  But I don’t want to be stuck.  So I look at the positives, look at the possibilities and use my support system.  With these things in place I am better suited to succeed NOW!

100 Words a Day #149

11 Sep

Benbo was sitting in the room that he created.  He (for lack of a better term) didn’t build it.  It was just there.  Benbo just thinks of things and things are there.

Benbo didn’t feel frustration or anger or fear or sadness.  He just wanted to have fun, to amuse himself.  So he did things.  He never knew of repercussions the things he did would have for others.  He wasn’t aware of others.  While trying to make fun he made ‘people.’

He interacted with them and made them do things for his amusement.  There was resentment they had towards him.

‘Man, I really wanna go see It.’

‘It what?’

‘The movie It.’

‘There is a movie called It?’

‘Yeah.’

‘That sounds like a stupid name.  What is it about?’

‘It is about this scary clown named Pennywise who kills children.’

‘So why is it called It?’

‘I guess because if they called it Clowns people would be too afraid to see it.’

‘It sounds stupid.’

‘No man, it’ll be good.  It is a Stephen King movie.’

‘Isn’t he the guy who did Shawshank Redemption?’

‘Sure is.’

‘White guys got raped in that movie.  I’m sure that was a scarier movie.’

The issue of decency and body shaming has come up in my life recently.  I voiced opinions about a very pregnant lady, wearing a crop top, getting refused service at a restaurant.  I feel that the restaurant was in the right.  I was accused of body shaming.  I had to point out that the issue dealt with the place (restaurant) and not her body.

People cited her comfort level and we should be respectful.  What about MY comfort level?  Shouldn’t she have some respect for my comfort as I try to eat my meal?  Things are not always about you.
